What motivates you? There are several things that keep me moving every day despite my less than ideal health circumstances. One of my main motivations is my son. Could there be a better reason to get up every morning with a smile on your face? Even when I don't feel the best he keeps me guessing by helping me change up my workout routine. His favorite thing right now is to see how well I can hold a balance pose while he pulls up to standing on me. It's definitely helping me improve my core strength and get my sweat on! I encourage you to make a list of the things that motivate you and stick them somewhere you'll see them frequently to give your day that extra umph to bust out a project at work, get your to-do list done, or complete a killer workout! Having trouble finding your motivation? I would LOVE to personally motivate you and be your personal cheerleader to success! I can be your free coach on the way to your goals! Let's be friends! I can be found on instagram, facebook, pinterest or youtube. Check out my CONTACT page for more info :) |

My BIGGEST STRUGGLE after having Zander was postpartum depression. I struggled with it for 7 months and I firmly believe that fitness is the only thing that helped.
After 4 months of being miserable and wanting to lose the 'baby weight' I forced myself to get out of bed and dance. Yep dance. I did Shaun T's (insanity guy) hip hop abs and would laugh and dance my butt off. I lost 5lbs that month and numerous inches! I felt confident, I felt beautiful and I loved the feeling I got from working out and smiling through it. It was a welcome change from crying all day. I was hooked. After completing that program and receiving my free t-shirt, I committed to Piyo, then cize, then p90x3....it's not always easy to make time for working out (and sometimes my son becomes my weight and I jump around him during my workouts) but it is worth it. Because I AM WORTH IT. Some days the voices in my head tell me I'm not and that's when I need to hit play the most! 2 things I believe about fitness: it should be fun and everyone should find a way to incorporate it into their lives. It has changed my life and I feel like I'm living life MY WAY. It's not always easy, life isn't suppose to be, but it's so WORTH IT. If you've read this far thank you for listening. Sometimes we all just need a friend to be accountable to. I would love to be there for you like Shaun T and my family was there for me, we can do this together. It definitely felt like I was going out on a limb then because I wasn't in amazing shape and wasn't a fitness or nutrition guru but that's not what this job is about. My job is to help others feel amazing about themselves and be their cheerleader along the way as they pursue their goals, personal and fitness related. I'm so glad I chose to take that leap of faith! I'm able to work from home, spend time with my new baby and work on getting physically and emotionally FIT. I absolutely LOVE it! Who wouldn't want to get paid to help others as you help yourself and work from home? I've had other fun and rewarding jobs (nurses aide, dental assistant and the fun one was a laser tag specialist (yeh that's a thing) but this one takes the cake. I control my hours and the time I put into it because it's my own little business. I've met so many amazing people doing this and my goal is build a life around helping others feel amazing at any size or shape. If this sounds like the type of job you would like to learn more about feel free to contact me or fill out my coaching form. ![]() Ok, so there are a lot of things on the market to help with teething...which if you've been there you know some kids handle it better than others but it's by no means a picnic. We love the new gummy like teethers (walmart has a ton with bristles and bumps..any design you desire), we even have a couple old school frozen ones, and then we got creative and put water to freeze in the binkies that have the finger holes... but when the teeth are just aching and you don't want to poor tons of tylenol down your child's throat or numb there mouth excessively, what's a mom or dad to do? Personally, since we don't want our poor little guys diet to consist mainly of tylenol, oragel or even the all natural products we've come up with a great solution! Now, keep in mind not everything works for every one but I thought just in case it might help, I would share it. In this teething phase our little guy will get so worked up he gets not only fussy from teething but also from lack of sleep and where a bottle would usually calm him right down....he won't accept it during this phase. Hence our newest solution. So you know how after crying, at least for our baby, they get really worked up and sweaty? We take our little guy in front of a fan or our wall AC unit (while we pace) and the cool breeze calms this screaming baby boy right down. Seriously, it works! This might seem like a duh thing or maybe it's just so simple no one has tried it or maybe it's a common practice I'm unaware of (haha could be..then I'd feel slightly less helpful)....either way I'm a new momma and I'm sure there are other new mommas out there wondering how the heck to calm a hungry, teething, tired baby down. So I say to you, mother's of the teething, give this a try. This usually calms our son down enough that he will either fall asleep in our arms as we pace in front of a breeze or calm him down enough to take a bottle. If it doesn't work...just know this too shall pass :) but I sincerely hope it will help you as much as it's helped us. And if you need a pick me up, watch a video of those little chunks laughing and it'll cheer you right up! If you don't have a video handy, watch mine and then go make one of your own. Kisses and love from ME ![]() Ok, so many pregnant friends or hopeful new moms tell me their biggest fear is getting postpartum depression. I'm not trying to start this first post all depressed and sad but postpartum depression is a real struggle that I feel isn't talked about much. I mean, we just had a baby, shouldn't it be the 'happiest time of our lives'? But let's be real, with all the hormones circulating after birth it's no surprise to have some baby blues and overwhelm-ment. But how do you know when you've entered the 'postpartum depression zone'? I'm not a doctor, or a professional in these matters. I'm just a mom who has recently been there and experienced PPD. Generally if you feel sad or overwhelmed for more than a few days you should speak with your doctor. But the great news is, you're usually in the hospital that long recovering and are diagnosed there! It's really not as daunting as it sounds if you get treated asap and usually resolves itself within 6 months when the pregnancy postpartum hormones calm down. So...what I'm saying is...it shouldn't be your biggest fear! And honestly if it is then that's pretty small and easily resolvable so wooohoo for you :) That being said please please please talk to someone, anyone, if you think you might even slightly have PPD. It's no big deal IF you get help and it's really common so please I urge you to not freak out and just reach out. Maybe in another post I will go into more depth about my son's birth story and the struggle it was having a baby in the NICU (even just for 7days-he's a healthy chunk now) but I created this blog because I want to help others, along with myself, find the positive in all things. Yes, I got diagnosed with postpartum depression a couple weeks after the birth of my first child BUT after going to my doctor and getting something to balance my hormones I felt better within a few days. A few days can seem like an eternity when you're struggling with any kind of depression and lacking sleep from a new mom routine but after those few days I felt like myself again and was able to start enjoying my son and new life at home with him. I think the biggest struggle for me was to admit to myself that I was not feeling like myself. I was worried I would be judged (and this is coming from a person who had been diagnosed with clinical depression before pregnancy) or just feel guilty or that I wasn't 'good enough'. Yeh, those are ALL LIES! If you are reading this now, whether you are a man or woman, I want you to not just feel but KNOW you are good enough! Heavenly Father doesn't make mistakes and we are all here for a reason. If you are struggling with this whole new mom thing read this and know you are amazing and you can do this! You were hand picked to be the mother of this bundle of joy and times will get easier. Something that helped me, surprisingly, was opening up about my struggles on facebook. Facebook? What? Yes, I decided I would be vunerable and so many people reached out to me saying they were or had been going through the same thing. I'm so glad that I chose to open up. And honestly even if I only helped one person to not feel alone it was worth it to me. Something that has helped me largely with my struggles with depression, PPD, hypothroidism, anxiety and type 1 diabetes is living an active lifestyle and learning (yes learning) to make healthy food choices. If you struggle with any of these things lets be there for each other and kick these problems in the booty! |
